BAPTIST CHURCH
Statement of Faith
1
THE INSPIRATION OF THE SCRIPTURES
We believe that the Holy Bible (KJV), both Old and New Testaments (66 Books) from Genesis to Revelation, is the verbally, supernaturally inspired and infallible Word of God. We believe it is the absolute rule and authority of faith and practice. It is the special revelation of God to man and the only basis for true Christian union. We believe the Word of God is providentially preserved, profitable, pure, powerful and penned. II Timothy 3:16-17; II Peter 1:19-21; Matthew 5:18; Hebrews 4:12; John 10:35; 17:17; Psalm 12:6-7
2
THE TRUE GOD
We believe the only one true and living God is a triune God, eternally existing in three persons; God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. He is an infinite, intelligent Spirit, creator and supreme ruler of heaven and earth - absolute in His attributes and glorious in holiness and worthy of all praise, glory, honor and love. God is omniscient, omnipresent, omnipotent, sovereign and perfect in love, wisdom, and power.
Genesis 1:1; John 1:1-3; Matthew 28:19; Deuteronomy 4:35; 6:4; Ephesians 4:3-6; I Corinthians 8:6
3
THE PERSON OF JESUS CHRIST
We believe the Lord Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God (God the Son) who became man without ceasing to be God, conceived, by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary, to reveal God and redeem sinful man. We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ accomplished our redemption through his vicarious, substitutionary death on the cross, His shed blood, burial and literal, physical resurrection from the dead. We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ ascended into Heaven. He now sits at and is exalted at the right hand of God as our Great High Priest.
Isaiah 7:14; I Thessalonians 4:16; Matthew 1:18; Luke 1:35; John 1:1; 14:3; I Peter 2:22; 3:18; Ephesians 2:20
4
THE PERSON OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
We believe that the Holy Spirit is a divine person; equal with God the Father and God the Son. He convicts of sin, judgment and righteousness. He teaches, leads, guides, comforts, indwells and seals the believer.
Ephesians 1:13, 14; 4:30; I Corinthians 3:16; Romans 8:9; I Corinthians 12:13; 2 Corinthians 3:17; John 14:16, 17, 26; 16:8-10;
5
THE FALL OF MAN
We believe the Genesis account of creation is a true, literal and historical record. We believe that man was created in God’s own image and after his own likeness. We believe that man was created in innocence, but voluntarily transgressed and fell from his sinless state. The consequence of which all mankind is now sinners under just condemnation. Genesis 1:26-27; 2:7, 16-17; Genesis 3; Genesis 5:1-3; Romans 5:6-12
6
THE SALVATION OF SINNERS
We believe that salvation is by grace through faith and the Lord Jesus Christ is the only way of salvation. Salvation is through the finished work of the Lord Jesus Christ (death, burial and resurrection) and is the free gift of God extended to every man. It is not merited or secured through the works of man. It is received only by putting your faith and trust on the Lord Jesus Christ and His shed blood on the cross. We believe all that turn and trust on the Lord Jesus Christ alone are saved and declared righteous before God, and through the new birth enter into God’s family. We believe there is no possible salvation outside of the Lord Jesus Christ and His shed blood.
John 1:12, 3:3-6, 16; 10:28-29; Acts 16:31; Ephesians 2:8-10; I Timothy 2:5-6; I Romans 10:9-10, 13; 1 Corinthians 15:1-4; Ephesians 2:8-9; 2 Peter 3:9; 1 John 3:1-2; Ephesians 1:13-18.
7
THE SECURITY OF THE BELIEVER
We believe that once a person is saved, he is eternally saved, secured and kept by Gods power thus sealed unto the day of redemption by the sealing of the Holy Spirit of God. We believe the Believer now has the liberty to serve God and not use this liberty as an occasion to the flesh. Ephesians 1:13-14; 4:30; John 6:37; 10:27-30; I John 2:25; 3:20; 5:11-13; Romans 8:38-39; I Corinthians 6:19; Galatians 2:21

THE CHURCH
We believe the local church consists of those who have put their faith and trust in the finished work of the Lord Jesus Christ and received Him as their personal Lord and Saviour. Members of the church are to be baptized biblically which is by full immersion. This is done as an act of obedience and identifies the believer with the Lord Jesus Christ and is a picture of what took place at the time of salvation. The church is to fellowship together, preach and teach the word of God, and reach the world with the gospel message as commissioned by the Lord Jesus Christ. The church is to be in prayer for one another and care for another. The Lord Jesus Christ is the head of the body of believers, the church. He is the chief corner stone, the Shepard (Chief Shepard) and Bishop of our souls. He is the foundation. We believe the church leadership biblically consists of Pastors, Elders and Deacons.
